Because pizza is life.

If you follow me on Instagram, you'll probably know that my go-to cheat meal is pizza and wine. So when Oath Pizza invited me to stop in to try their pizza, you know I was jumping up and down. If you haven't heard of Oath Pizza yet, it is the only Certified Humane pizzeria in the country, and they recently opened in Navy Yard (110 M. Street SE, Washington, D.C.).

My friend and I split the Crabby Old Baystard, which is pizza topped with Old Bay-seasoned lump crab meat, creme fraiche ricotta sauce, crust bread crumbs, Old Bay aioli, scallions and lemon. And the Spicy Mother Clucker with mozzarella, pickled red onions, spiced chicken, sriracha, spicy aioli and scallions. I have to say, I've never had pizza like this before. The dough is grilled and seared in avocado oil, so the crust tastes light and airy- kind of like a mix between a croissant and a cracker. This really made me not feel too bad for finishing all of it. You definitely don't feel heavy after eating these pizzas. My personal favorite was the Spicy Mother Clucker because I'm a sucker for anything sweet and spicy.

And whatever you do, make sure you save room for dessert. They have this chocolate chunk cookie pizza that has chunks of cookie dough with oozing chocolate, ricotta and powdered sugar. Because it's on the same light and airy dough, I felt like I was eating a chocolate croissant, but tastier and healthier (at least I'd like to think so HA).

The next time you're in the Navy Yard area, check out Oath Pizza and let me know what you think!
