For my 29th birthday, I gifted myself a trip to South Korea. How crazy is it that I've never visited my parent's homeland before?! Coincidentally, my two friends we're going already, so I tagged along for part of their trip.
One of my favorite memories of the trip was when we visited the Gyeongbokgung Palace or 경복궁. It was one of the hottest days in Korea, but we wanted to truly embrace the culture at the palace so we rented the traditional Korean attire, hanbok (only $15, includes free entry to the palace). We walked around the huge palace, took some pictures, even stopping to take some pictures with other tourists who approached us, and stopped to enjoy some traditional tea and snacks.
To commemorate my first visit to Korea, I got Korea's national flower: Mugunghwa or Hibiscus Syriacus tattooed on the back of my ankle. Many thanks to the infamous Playground Tattoo for the intricate design.
